The use of AI in the classroom and how we might adapt to embrace (60 min)

Dr Keith Quille aims to look at the ever-approaching use of AI in the classroom. We will will start with some recent developments in the use of large language models (ChatGPT), we will briefly discuss new EU guidelines on the use of AI and data in education and training that will affect us and our teaching, including how AI tools such as ChatGPT can be used positively for Teachers and students alike. We will then briefly discuss how we might adapt and embrace the new tools with approaches like open book exams and assessments.

Keith Quille is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Enterprise Computing and Digital Transformation, at TU Dublin, Ireland. Keith’s interest is in teaching Human Centered ML/AI from K-12 and at third-level as well as developing and using AI and ML in education (for detecting students at risk of failing or dropping out of introductory programming courses).
